Travel

I am on my journey from Portland, Oregon to the Island of Maio, roughly a quarter of the way around the earth, across North America and the Atlantic Ocean to a small volcanic Archipelago called Cape Verde, 450km off the West Coast of Africa near Senegal. It is here where I plan to meet my mentor Professor, Michael Hedlin, and his crew of four from the University of California San Diego to join them as they construct an infrasound detector on this relatively flat, and dusty volcanic island. Just getting to the island is something of an adventure as I will fly to Frankfurt and then lay over in Lisbon for a flight to the main island of Santiago. I am looking forward to seeing new people, different ways of living, and learning about the science of infrasound.
