Ready to Leave Port

Continued preparation for leaving port. Dr. D'Hondt has scheduled a meeting with all science party members to discuss procedures, safety, and shipboard conduct. The captain has ordered that all things be secured. All the science party is checking equipment and supplies to make sure nothing moves around if we encounter heavy seas. Everything is double-checked. It is either tied down or put away in a box or drawer. Dr. Art Spivack, the lead chemist, called a meeting of the chemist party to discuss procedures and schedules within the lab. I have been assigned to work with Art from noon to midnight. Dennis and Heather have been assigned to work from midnight to noon. The idea is that all hours are covered within the lab to insure continual flow of specimens and analysis. Several procedures within the lab were briefly covered including processing of core samples, safety, and recording procedures.
