Research Experience: Coastal Ecology of the Bahamas , Co-sponsored by Earthwatch Institute - Web Site
Research Objectives: Use remote sensing images to model the extent and degree of human alterations to the coastal zone. Characterize the natural communities both above and below the water, guided by maps produced from LandSat satellite images. Evaluate human impact on the coastal zone using a scorecard to record environmental alternations, age of changes, and sources of pollution, to ground truth the information in the satellite images.
Research funded by: Earthwatch Institute
Host Researcher: Kathleen Sullivan Sealey - University of Miami
