Research Objectives: An international team of scientists on three icebreakers will look for evidence of climate and environmental change recorded in deep-sea sediments in the Arctic Ocean. The goal of the expedition is to recover a 500-meter thick sedimentary sequence that will reveal a 50-million year history of the Arctic Ocean and determine its role in the global evolution of past climates and environments.
Research funded by: Integrated Ocean Drilling Program
